Sol. By inserting the strips, β does not change.

β = = = 4.0 × 10 –4 m.

Lets try to find out the point at which path difference is zero. (central maxima).

So at P; path difference due to extra travelling (i.e. dsin θ ) must be equal to the optical path difference.

at centre point path difference = ( μ 2 – μ 1 ) t = 83.33 λ

so as we move up path difference will decrease so at height we will get maxima and at a distance on lower side maxima will formed.
