Sol. By considering Gaussian surface as shown in figure, and applying Gauss law

We have

∴ σ 2 = ε 0 E
Also, σ 3 = – σ 2 = – ε 0 E.
We can not find σ 1 and σ 4 .

⇒ σ 1 = σ 4
